Punching In and Out

In your project, go into the "Edit" screen. Next, hit the select button(s),
for the track(s), you want to set in/out points for.
Now locate to the "in" section and then hit "in" (by the jog wheel),
to set the in point. Next go to the "out" point and hit the "out" button
(also by jog wheel). Now the entire section will be highlighted.

To "autopunch" the section, enable the green "Auto" button, located right above
the "User Bank" button. When the "Auto" button is engaged (green), the DPS
will enter into record on the marked section only.

To go into record, locate to any section prior to the in/out points (say 3-5 secs),
and hit play+record. Now you will drop in, and out in your prescribed area.

When you go back to listen to the recorded part - don't forget to disengage
the "Auto" button, or you will be "input monitoring" the marked section and hear
nothing (it won't be recorded over unless you hit the red button though!).

-----------
The above section is correct, except that you do not need to go to the EDIT mode
to set the IN and OUT points. They can be grabbed on the fly, during playback or
using jog, while the DPS24 is in the MAIN/GRID page (or any page for that matter).
The IN and OUT points are also set automatically when you perform a manual
punch-in/out. You can repeat the same take simply by enabling AUTO-punch.

---------------------------------

The easiest way to locate before the IN point is to enable PRE-ROLL
and then GOTO IN. This will locate to the IN point minus the pre-roll time
set in SHIFT+PRE-ROLL)

When AUTO is enabled, you need to press PLAY+RECORD before
the IN point to enable Auto Record.
If you press only PLAY, the DPS24 will be in "Rehearse" mode, and the
monitoring of armed tracks will automatically switch from track playback
to input monitor between the IN and OUT points.
This is why the audio may appear muted on playback.
You can either disable AUTO after recording, or dis-arm the record
tracks to allow normal playback of the recorded track.
----------------------------------------------------

Autopunch, matching levels:

1. Punch-in

a) Manual punch:
Play the track with the Record Select enabled and punch-in where you want
to record. Manual punch-in can be done by pressing PLAY+REC
or using a Footswitch.

b) Autopunch
- Set an IN point where you want to punch in
- Set an OUT point where you want to punch out
(or at the end of the song if you don't know where to punch out)
- Enable AUTO
- Enable Pre-Roll (set to 3 seconds, for instance)
- GOTO IN (this locates to the IN time minus Pre-roll)
- Press PLAY+REC
-> the REC LEDs will flash until the DPS reaches the IN point
where it will drop into record.

To match your levels before punching in on an existing track, while the track
is playing with its Record Select ready, use INP MON to toggle between the
track and your input signal and adjust the input level to match the track level.

2) Adjusting a region level
You can use the Automation TRIM mode:
- Set an IN-OUT region
- in AUTOMATE, turn Automation ON (be sure to store your static mix in Scene 00)
- select "TRIM FADERS" (F5/F6)
- set Trim Region to IN<>OUT (using Q1)
- select the Fader Bank witht he track that you want to adjust
- touch the Fader and adjust the level (you'll see the adjustment value on the LCD).
(you can do this while playing back)
- when the level is correct, press TRIM (F6). It's done!
